Any resident (over 18 years of age) who lives in Tay Valley Township or Drummond/North Elmsley Township may apply for an open air fire permit. Residents who are renting will require approval from their landlord before an open air fire permit can be issued.

Materials to be burned shall only be wood products.
An open air fire permit is required before you start any type of fire on your property with the exception of barbeques and propane fueled appliances/pits.
It is FREE to obtain a residential and/or agricultural open air fire permit.
All open air fire permits expire annually on November 30 so residents need to re-register for an open air fire permit each year.
A RESIDENTIAL open air fire permit includes but is not limited to campfires, fire pits, chimneas, incinerators (burn barrels), outdoor fireplaces, etc. All RESIDENTIAL open air fires must be less than 30" in height and diameter. An AGRICULTURAL open air fire permit is for any fire that is larger than 30" in height and diameter. As long as your property meets the required setbacks, property owners can have both a residential and agricultural open air fire permit on file.
